The Wired Leadership Academy is a body of student leaders recognized by teachers and staff members that work to further develop their leadership traits through training opportunities and skill building events. The Academy has been run by Mr. King, consultant for Lansing Community College, success coordinator Ms. Abdullah, and assistant principle Mr. Johnson for the past eight years at the Ninth Grade Campus, but has moved over to the Main Campus last year and now involves students from grades 9-12.
These students are trained to serve as role models to other students, be leaders in their community, and help develop a good academic culture at Holt High School. They devote their time Wednesday mornings to do leadership workshops and attend presentations by current leaders in the community. They are trained by Terrance King, a workforce performance and learning consultant associated with Lansing Community College. Guest speakers that come in include former students as well as leaders like Dr. Scott. Students in the Academy also get many opportunities along with NHS students to volunteer with the Holt Food Bank and other organizations, and learn the value of their responsibility to the community.
