This is a 1 semester class and is worth .5 credit. Open to grades 11-12.
This class will survey the major groups of plants, recognizing major characteristics and processes by lab observations of live plants. Teaches students how to take care of basic houseplants and apply what they have learned to their yards and gardens.
- Name each of the major groups of plants and tell characteristics that make them different from each other.
- Describe the various chemical processes that go on in a living plant and demonstrate them in a lab.
- Recognize the developmental process of the different plant tissues and organs.
- Identify various anatomical structures in live and dissected plant specimens and tell their functions and how they relate to specific enviornmental conditions.
